Released January 12, 2021, at 10am EST – Beaverton, Oregon

Core engineering and management teams will stay on as company announces new CEO, board members, and increased emphasis on firmware security as part of a friendly acquisition.

Phoenix Technologies today announced the addition of a new CEO and board of directors as part of a friendly acquisition by Santera Limited on January 12, 2021. Santera was established specifically to acquire Phoenix Technologies and the new company will continue to operate under the Phoenix Technologies name.

Gerard Moore will be taking over as CEO and the largest single stockholder in the new company. “I’m honored to be leading such an iconic technology firm,” Moore said. “I’m also thrilled to announce that there will be no major departures in our engineering or management teams. Rather, we are doubling down on Phoenix’s extensive investments in research, engineering, and firmware security as we expand our traditional customer base while aggressively entering new markets.”

Phoenix plans to expand their US and Taiwan-based engineering teams and open a new global HQ and firmware security operations team in Campbell, CA.

The new board members are:

Gerard Moore, CEO
Mr. Moore is an experienced CEO with a track record in delivering significant growth and entry to new markets. Prior to Phoenix, Mr. Moore was founder and CEO of a number of technology companies including Spectel (which was later sold to Avaya). Jonathon O’Connell, Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. O’Connell has over 25 years of experience as a CFO in growing technology and biotech companies including fundraisings, IPOs and trade sales. Prior to Phoenix, Mr. O’Connell was CFO of multiple technology companies including Spectel (which was sold to Avaya), Escher Group (a London listed technology company), and Trinity Biotech (a Nasdaq listed company). He is a Chartered accountant and a graduate of business from Trinity College Dublin.

Kevin Cooney, Non-Executive Director.
